Furnaces represent a conventional form of home heating systems that are common to most households. Using today’s technology, a furnace may often achieve high efficiency. Due to a secondary heat exchanger, much of the energy is converted directly to heat during combustion. At Green Air, we only install Amana units that generate the highest efficiency, in the range of 93%-98% AFUE, depending on the nature of the installation.
The furnace industry characterizes heater efficiency with the AFUE, or annual fuel utilization efficiency, of the unit. The AFUE represents a numerical standard that measures the average efficiency for a thermal device for the duration of a typical season or year.
A heater’s output is measured in BTU/h (British Thermal Units per hour). The size of your home, the R-value of your insulation, and the design of your ductwork primarily influence the size of the furnace required to produce absolute comfort throughout your home.

PG&E currently offers rebates for installation of a high energy efficiency natural gas furnace. PG&E rebates start at $200 for a 92% AFUE furnace, up to $300 for a 94%+ AFUE furnace. They also offer a further $50 for variable speed or modulating units. We at Green Air take great pride in offering superior customer service, and we will assist our clients by offering the required forms and information to collect their rebate upon job completion.
