4 Tips on How to Save Money on a New HVAC System

Much like other major home improvements, getting a new HVAC system is an important investment. In today’s post, local HVAC and solar panel company GO Green Air shares tips on how to save money when getting a new HVAC system.

1. Choose an energy-efficient HVAC system — It’s probably the most obvious tip, but it’s one that bears repeating. When comparing heaters and air conditioners, take the time to compare energy saving features such as SEER rating and cooling stages. You can narrow your search down by sticking with ENERGY STAR®-certified models. Combined with other energy-efficient home improvements like insulated windows and entry doors, you can enjoy significant energy savings over the years.

2. Special offers and promotions — Keep an eye out for promos and special offers from HVAC contractors, which could result in savings derived from rebates or special financing options. You can set up Google Alerts to send you an email for keywords like “discount,” “sale” or “promo” from local HVAC contractor sites. HVAC manufacturers may also offer discounts through certified dealers.

3. Tax credits — Through certain programs and initiatives, you may be eligible for tax credits when you purchase solar panels, HVAC systems, and other upgrades that help improve home energy efficiency. The Energy Upgrade California (EUC) program, for example, helps property owners with energy savings through guidance in planning, referrals to certified contractors and rebates up to $4,500 for a single-family home.

4. Special financing — Your local contractor may be able to help you with the upfront costs through special financing options, including low downpayments and easy installments. GO Green Air works with renowned home improvement financing companies HERO® and Ygrene™ to provide 100% financing for energy-efficient upgrades.

HERO’s Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program allows energy and water efficiency upgrades more affordable, with options that include flexible repayment terms of up to 25 years and no upfront costs. Ygrene offers financing options that include fixed payment terms for up to 30 years and payments made through your property tax bill. In addition to HVAC systems, some of these financing options apply to our other services, including roofing and solar installation.
